Ella & Nick - Casa Loma Toronto Engagement

Ella & Nick's romantic Casa Loma engagement session took place in Toronto on a beautiful sunny, but chilly day last week in January. I always encourage my couples to pick a location that they absolutely love or somewhere that mean's a lot to them. Ella did just that, she searched until she found the perfect location, and I'm so happy they were willing to travel for their photos!

We took full advantage of the beautiful scenery the castle had to offer. Every corner of this location was just perfect. From the elegant rooms inside to the stunning classical exterior architecture, it was nothing short of a dream location for a photo shoot.

Ella & Nick, you were an absolute joy to work with from the beginning. I can't tell you how happy I am to capture your wedding day coming up in July at the stunning Puddiecombe House! Thank you both for choosing me to capture these priceless memories for you!

Despite how difficult it was choose from all the photos we captured, here are some of my favourites!

Justyn & Nathan - Toronto Engagement

This is one blog I have been dying to post for months!! Let me start off by saying that Justyn is one of my best friends. When she called me in August to tell me that Nathan proposed that morning, I was all in tears from joy! In that same phone call, she had told me I am her wedding photographer and that there is no if's, and's, or but's about it. You could only imagine my excitement that not only is my bff engaged.. but I get to watch her get married through my lens - the wedding that she's been dreaming about since she was a little girl.

Fast forward to mid October for their engagement session, Justyn & Nate met me at my home in Mississauga and we all drove together to the other side of Toronto (just missing the crazy QEW rush hour) and headed to Scarborough. We first Shot at the stunning Guild Park in the first outfit, which I had been going gaga over since she sent me a photo of it weeks prior. These images remind me of scene's from a romance movie. The lighting was spot on and everything looked so elegant and romantic!

The second location was at the gorgeous Scarborough Bluff's. The scenery here was like we weren't even in Ontario and on a vacation, but in reality.. we were in the heart of a busy city that was just blocked out by the cliff's. We shot during the beautiful sunset and had less than half an hour to get the shots. We went from quite a serene location at Guild Park to a Windy and very chill shoreline. Needless to say, we got beautiful shots and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out from our adventurous day!

Justyn & Nathan, I CANNOT wait for your wedding in June! I feel so honored to not only attend (because let's face it, I would have been there regardless) but to have been chosen to capture this important milestone for you both!

Jade & Tom - Lakeshore Engagement Session

Jade has been a friend of mine since high school. When she had contacted me to join their Punta Cana trip in 2018 and become her destination wedding photographer, I was totally excited and there was no chance of me turning it down!

Jade and Tom met me on a warm September evening down on Lakeshore for their engagement session. It was the perfect location for them and the nautical vibe ties in perfectly with their destination wedding. We were even blessed with a stunning sunset on top of the beautiful soft light that us photographers call "magic hour" .. it really was magic.

I had such a blast with these two during their engagement session and cannot wait to see what their wedding in May has in store for us! Thank you both for allowing me to capture these beautiful moments for you, I can't wait to see you both through my lens on your big day!

Ashley and Andys engagement shoot was one for the books! Driving up north to Six Mile Lake I got to enjoy the most beautiful scenery and once there, the view was absolutely breath taking! On top of perfect scenery, we ended up with perfect weather too!

The session took place at their stunning family cottage, which is home to so many different backdrops! We spent so much time laughing, the entire day was so easy and light hearted. As soon as I started capturing those photos in the canoe, I melted a bit. To me, it just screams The Notebook!

These photos are some of my favourite images I've captured. I can't wait to share in their big day and photograph even more beautiful moments for them next year.

Jill & Kyle - Proposal/Engagement Kitchener

While the outdoor shoots make for some of the best and most beautiful photos, it can be tricky to work around mother nature. I was so excited to spend this day with Jill and Kyle but it was calling for rain all day. Kyle and I were continuously checking the radar, trying to decide whether to reschedule or brave it out. My entire travels from Mississauga to Kitchener it down poured, but I’m so glad we stuck it out because as soon as I got off the highway- the rain stopped and held off for our entire session at the beautiful Doon Mill ruins.

When I got the opportunity to photograph Kyle getting down on one knee last fall (You’ll see these in the first few photos below) I was immediately counting down the days until this engagement shoot and their wedding next summer. These two beautiful people are just so sweet together and so fun to watch! They compliment each other so well. Their easy going and fun loving nature made for some goofy moments and the most incredible candids!

Thank you both for being so great and so easy to work with! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next summer and capture some more beautiful moments

Kristine + Jordan - Rockwood Guelph Engagement

Back in May, I met with this incredible couple for their engagement shoot at the beautiful Rockwood Campgrounds, just outside of Guelph. I love everything this park has to offer. From the crisp waterfall to the old ruins, the backdrops are jaw dropping. The gorgeous flowers blooming all around us just topped it off. With a park like this, of course it was full of people enjoying what we were! Although with these two, it was easy to get lost in the moments and felt as though no one else was there with us.

It was another day that the forecast was calling for rain, but the precipitation held off! The weather God’s knew to cooperate thankfully!

I loved Kristine’s dress and the way it flowed with her every pose. Her makeup that was done by one of my best friends and the amazing makeup artist – Justyn McCaskie suited her perfectly! Thank you both for such a fun evening, I can’t wait to photograph your wedding coming up this August!

Jared & Dilara - Waterloo University Winter Engagement

Jared & Delira's romantic University Engagement shoot was taken at the University of Waterloo where they first met. I had such a wonderful time shooting them on campus and across the street at Waterloo Park. They showed me what they do on the daily and I couldn't have had more fun capturing the sweet moments between these two.

We took full advantage of all the beautiful architecture on site; especially at the Quantum Nano Center. It was my first time shooting in a lab, and I must admit it was pretty cool and made for some beautiful photographs. Thank you both for choosing me to capture these memories for you! Cannot wait to work with you two again for your wedding in June!

Lindsay & Cody - Guelph Arboretum Engagement

I’m not sure whether it’s gold in the trees or maybe the couple wrapped up in a blanket, but there’s something about fall engagement shoots that radiate a warm feeling. When the colours and the light and the love all come together in the most perfect way, it’s hard not to be excited about what I was able to capture for the couple.

Of course it didn’t hurt that I shot with Lindsay and Cody on one of the best fall days in 2016 at The Guelph Arboretum. I’ve known Lindsay for almost a decade, and her kindness and sweet demeanour have never wavered. Maybe I’m biased because I’m a chihuahua-mom myself, but their little dog was the cutest and added SO much to the shoot. Having fur babies along for engagement sessions make things so much more personal, and take the emotion up a level or two.

I can’t wait to shoot their wedding this year! Here are some of my favourites from their October session.

Lauren & Dave - Kitchener Engagement

The last few months leading up to Christmas wound up being the busiest time of the year for me, so I’m happy to finally sit back and reminisce about all of the wonderful couples I had the pleasure of working with recently.

Lauren and Dave’s love for one another was blatantly obvious when I first met them at a wedding that I shot last year. Shooting their engagement photos at such an authentic location just fit so perfectly with their personalities, I couldn’t imagine a better setting.

On a September day, we had the most ideal lighting. At an abandoned barn on the outskirts of Kitchener, all of the rustic wood and overgrown greenery made for the most romantic backdrop. It created a sense of privacy that adds to the photos immensely.

The emotion you see between the two of them was so real and so natural, it made it incredibly easy to photograph them. I always feel so privileged to spend time capturing the love and light that a couple like Lauren and Dave seem to radiate. I can’t wait to share in the excitement of their wedding day later this year!

Gaby & Brandon - Waterloo Engagement

Warning: the images you are about to see are so sweet and full of love that they may cause intense side effects such as uncontrollable smiling, continuous “aw-ing”, and wanting to run out and adopt a dog. I’m speaking from experience…

Gaby, Brandon and I met up for their engagement shoot in Waterloo, close to Grey Silo golf course. The open fields and rustic barn board acted as the perfect backdrop. Even the green grass played it’s roll wonderfully, and the couple didn’t miss a beat when it came to laying in the thick of it!

They both were so fun-loving and excited to experience this together that every pose came naturally to them, and their happiness was so easily captured. Gaby’s vibrant hair colour was the perfect reflection of her personality and I absolutely loved it. And don’t get me started on their pup, Quinn! Such an adorable dog - it’s like they had their entire world in between them for those shots.

Their wedding is going to be so much fun next year, but in the meantime let me stop gushing about these photos and you can take a look for yourself!

Jen & Jamie - Rockwood Engagement

Nothing feels better than taking chances and having it pay off, and that’s exactly what happened on the day of Jen and Jamie’s engagement shoot at Rockwood. All signs were pointing to a big storm, but we took a leap of faith and headed to this gorgeous location anyhow. We lucked out and not only did the storm pass us, but the clouds that were left in it’s wake allowed for beautiful soft lighting.

When we made our way into the caves it gave us the chance to play with flash, rather than just making use of the natural light. I’m always looking for unique elements to add to my photos, and I think this setting did just that.

Jamie and I have been friends since high school, so when he asked me to shoot his wedding I said yes without missing a beat. I imagine this engagement session was just a hint of how fun their wedding is going to be next May.

Take a look at some of the breathtaking images we caught!

Laura & Justin - London Engagement

It’s always great when a couple takes me to a location that they’re familiar with. They’ve already got certain spots in their mind, places that they’ve envisioned as their backdrop for quite some time. That was the case during Laura and Justin’s engagement shoot. Laura frequently runs along the Mill Pond near London, so she knew how perfect the setting would be. With a bit of walking and exploring, Mill Pond did not fail to impress.

With the light peeking through the trees, and the simple flowers that surrounded us, it all fit so well with how effortlessly their love translated on camera. Not one smile was unwarranted with these two - their love, their laughter, their overall happiness was the most natural of everything I captured during this session. Things run so smoothly when a couple is so comfortable with each other, even when a camera is present.

I can’t even imagine the photos that we’ll get during their wedding in Mexico next year. With such a beautiful and fun couple, it’s no wonder that my excitement level is through the roof!

Here are a few shots that stood out as my favourites this time around :)

Amy and Geoff's engagement session was on a beautiful evening in June. Baden and New Hamburg have great backdrops for photos, from old buildings to beautiful greenery and a quaint little waterfall. I shared so many laugh's with this couple, every smile was genuine. And I'm moved by the sincerity of their love for one another. :)

Darcy & Mike - Woodstock Engagement Session

I’ve known Darcy since high school, so when she asked me to do an engagement shoot with her and Mike, I was thrilled! It’s hard to remember what Darcy was like before I saw her with her fiancé, because they just seemed to be made perfectly for one another. These two were absolute naturals in front of the camera. When a couple shares so much love for each other, every pose is so heartfelt and real.

We were so lucky to be able to make use of their friends farm, everywhere we looked was a beautiful backdrop. From the barn to the cornfield, the private pond to the colourful forest - this location did not fail to impress! Even the birch trees added their own unique element. Working in such secluded areas as this really helps to make the shoot feel more intimate and special. Despite the cool weather on Halloween day, we managed to avoid any rain during the shoot.

I love the sense of coziness that this season can bring to photos, and this engagement session was no exception. It was a blast working with this amazing couple and I hope you enjoy their photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
