WEDDING DAY TIMELINE TIPS
Having a well planned timeline will allow you to really enjoy your day! You want to be as relaxed as possible, leaving yourself ample time for each part of the day so you’re really able to soak in the moments. Always allow more time than you think you will need.
DETAILS & PREP: 1-1.5 HOURS
Your details are an important part of your day, and I love having time to shoot the dress, shoes, jewelry, invitations, etc. While I’m capturing details, I’m also capturing some shots of you and the girls getting ready! After the details have been photographed, it’s time for the bride to get into her dress. This is a big moment! I usually ask that the mother of the bride and bridesmaids be dressed by the time the bride is ready to get in to her dress. After the bride is in her gown, I pull her away for a quick bridal portrait session before we head to the ceremony.
FIRST LOOK & PORTRAITS: 30-40 MINUTES
This is one of my favorite parts of the day! I like to have at least 30 minutes for this time with just the bride and groom so we can focus on getting the photos you've always imagined.
FAMILY FORMALS: 20-30 MINUTES
Family formals normally take place immediately following the ceremony. It works best this way to make sure all of the family members will be present at that time. Please be sure to make a family shot list with all the different variations you must have. (Example: Bride, Groom, Bride's Parents / Bride, Groom, Grooms Parents / etc.). I recommend shooting all portraits outdoors if possible so that they are more natural with the best lighting. In case of bad weather please be sure to have a rain backup plan.
BRIDAL PARTY: 20-40 MINUTES
During the bridal party portraits, we will make sure to get some great shots of the guys and girls both separately and together. I also like to make sure that both the bride and groom get a photo with each of their bridesmaids and groomsmen. 30-40 minutes will allow us enough time to change sceneries and get everyone set up for a variety of poses.
EXTRA BRIDE & GROOM PORTRAITS:
I love having a extra time with the bride and groom in the evening. During down time the two of you may want to leave the reception for a few minutes to get those special sunset photos you've dreamed of.
WEDDING DAY PREPARATION
When I arrive on your wedding day, I’ll first check in with you, say hi and introduce myself to all the girls. Then I will grab your dress and all the details and start photographing them right away. You both worked so hard to make today feel like you. You chose invitations that would set the stage, you handpicked everything you’ll wear, and some of the details may even have sweet little stories to tell or have significant meaning to you. I love using these details to help tell the bigger story of your day. It is very helpful if you gather these details in advance for me to photograph, especially if everything is together either on a tray or in a box - that way moving to different locations on the property is much easier.
